Scrubba Dub Dub

Who's seen Harry? Who wants to see Harry?
I do heart Harry Potter. But I'm not going to see him today. I'm still waiting on my Birthday present. (My drawing/drafting table)see previous post.
Hey- I found this awesome combo for your feet! Sugar and Olive oil. Ever tried it? I use to hate flip flops, (I've got sensitive toes), but the last few summers I have found some comfortable ones. Bad thing is.... they make your heals feel and look dried, some crack, etc. For those who live at or near the beach and sand area that really helps. But waaaaaaaay up here north of the Mason/Dixon we don't have that lux. So I've turned to Sugar and Olive oil= nice feet!Well, this got me thinking- I need sugar scrub- I can make my own sugar scrub and I don't need just olive oil..... so here's some recipes:

Sugar

Olive oil

Kosher salt

Lemon zest or other citrus zest

Lemon extract (optional)
One recipe makes 2 cups, enough for a 1-pint jar, or 2 half-pint jars.

Materials:
Microplane zester

Medium-sized bowl

Measuring cups and spoons

Mixing spoon

Container or jar for the finished product-I've used empty Yankee Candle jars before.

Ribbon for decor-if your feelin' it!
This project is great for reusing old jars that have been cleaned out (such as jam or sauce jars) or canning jars that you might have around.
Step 1: Combine 1 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup kosher salt, and 1 cup of olive oil in a medium-sized bowl. Stir until the oil is evenly distributed throughout the sugar and salt mixture.
Step 2: Using a microplane zester, grate the zest of 1 large lemon. Add zest to the bowl and stir to combine. If you would like a stronger scent, add 1/4 tsp lemon extract.
Step 3: Spoon the scrub mixture into a clean jar. Make sure to wipe up any spills on the outside of the jar. Tighten the lid on and decorate according to your tastes-if you wanna give as a gift!

Here's a citrus scrub:

1 cup sugar1/2 cup sweet almond oil

1 teaspoon fresh tangerine juice

1 teaspoon fresh lime juice

1 teaspoon fresh grapefruit juice

3 to 5 drops of peppermint oil
Mix the sugar and almond oil first. Then add the juices. Lastly, mix in the peppermint oil. Store in a sealed container.

Here's the famous Brown Sugar/Honey Scrub:
Mix in a plastic bowl:
½ cup of raw turbinado sugar (or brown sugar)
¼ cup of honey
Add 3-4 drops of essential oil if you have some around.
Use scrub all over your body once you are in the shower. If you have bath gloves or a loofah use those for scrubbing.

  1. Great ideas!! I buy the St. Ives peach scrub for my face, but have been looking for something for my tootsies. Definitely going to have to try the citrus scrub. I bet it smells heavenly!
