Kwik Kreative Project

A great motivator for me to get cracking on a decorative project is having company. I don't know if it is also that I know someone is going to be walking through my house and possibly criticing me. Or part that I have moved quit a bit and have had to make my house look "showable" therefore I go into stage mode....Whatever...
I need to give credit where credit is due here. I was reading Thrifty Decor Chick (u gotta check her out if you haven't already) and she suggested on one of her posts using things from around your house as curtains. Such as pretty patterned sheets, towels, fabric shower curtain...Enter my white sheets. These sheets were given to me by my mom and they only fit on a hide-a-bed. I hung them over my curtain rod and tied them up with brown rick-rack. Took me maybe 10 minutes at most. Thank You Sarah!

I can so do that!!!!

Hmmmm, I think I can make that! All of us "Kreatives" from time to time look at something and think "I can totally do that." (and sometimes we say "maybe even cheaper"...) Here is a project that I had a "I am so gonna do that" moment!
This is a picture that someone had made, (sorry, I don't recall where I saw this). I thought I can totally make that! So I did! I went digging through my junk drawer for small unusable flat objects and also went through my scrapbook embellishments. I had some large drawing paper from a class I took a long time ago. I have been thinking of how to cover a old painting I made in high school. It has a "ok" frame but the painting is not that good but I don't want to cover in case one day I may help it a bit more.... Below is a metal key I had to use as a template.
I then used the -trusty to us lady bloggers-, black spray paint, on the little objects, layed it out on a piece of cardboard on the lawn, sprayed away and this is my result:

I'm not sure if i like it horizontal or vertical..... I'm thinking vertical so I can hang the other metal keys beside this frame.

Eco-Kreative!!!! Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day! Don't forget to give Earth a break 9/8central. Shut off your electricity for 60seconds! Here's some recycle or upcycled Kreative ideas to "GO GREEN!"

all pics below- marthastewart.com
Pillow case bag!

A small purse-pocket made from those pants that don't fit anymore.

piggy bank- from a bottle

Carpet Coasters
Replacing carpet creates an enormous amount of waste -- about 1.75 million tons a year in the United States. If you have to install new carpet, save leftover bits from both the old and new rugs to turn into fuzzy coasters to protect your furniture from errant drips. (They make great housewarming gifts, too.)
Cut out squares of carpet, trimming the fray.
If the coasters get stained, wash in the sink like dishes and let them air-dry. Cost: $0

T-Shirt Pillows -marthastewart.com
Perk up your couch or love seat with throw pillows fashioned out of vintage Ts. "If you don't sew --and I don't -- you can take the cut pieces to a dry cleaner or tailor and have them make the basic stitches for you," suggests Seo.
Cut two identical squares of fabric from old T-shirts (one from the front and one from the back).
Lay the squares on top of one another, exterior sides facing in. Sew the pieces together along three edges, leaving one edge unsewn.
Turn the newly created "pillowcase" inside out and stuff with pillow filling (available at fabric stores, or from an old pillow you don't use).
Sew the fourth edge of the square shut. Cost: about $3 (Kaye's suggestion for those who don't sew- hemming tape that can be ironed on instead of sewing....)

Recycled Paper Notebook
Don't toss paper that's only been printed on one side into the recycling bin. Bind the sheets together for a quick, handy notebook.
Cut the paper into uniformly sized rectangles.
Stack the pieces blank-side up and punch two to three holes along one edge.
Grab an old shoe box and cut two pieces of cardboard the same size as the paper.
Punch holes along one edge, keeping them aligned with the paper holes.
Sandwich paper between the covers and "bind" the book using key rings.
Cover the cardboard with old carpet samples or colorful contact paper. Cost: about $3

Toothbrush holder+chopsticks= ziplock bag dryer

Recycled candles! Got great smelling candles you just can't get rid of and just can't burn anymore? Put a coin in the bottom of a decorated terra cotta pot, pour warmed wax in, set a wick in the middle by wrapping a wick around a pencil and setting it on top of the pot so the wick dips into the melted wax, leave until candle is set. Cut wick and light!

Got some pretty colored empty wine bottles? Use them to water your plants! Don't buy the "As seen on TV" version, just use your own! Fill with water (after washed out) carefully put in soil upside down! Easy!

Martha's peeps have done it again! Sweater chair covers! Take that old favorite sweater, cut off the neck and arms. Unscrew your chairs original cushion from the bottom. Place the sweater on the cushion and staple gun the sweater to the cushion bottom. Replace the screws and voila! And you know that old sweater is washable!
Sweater soft cushion covers!

I've shown this before... A purse made of placemats! (Not my favorite looking placemat but there are some others out there that are pretty enough to make a purse out of!)
Here's the old post of Trash to Treasure with another idea using your old macaroni and cheese boxes!
Upcycled CD-case as a dry erase board

Hand towel organizer

Fold down top of towel 1 1/2 inches; pin, then sew to create a channel for the dowel. Flip towel over; fold it onto itself so it overlaps about 5 inches; pin. Repeat to make a second pleat so bottom edge of towel is bottom edge of caddy; pin. Sew along both sides of towel, leaving channel at top open and reinforcing pockets' corners. Sew two more seams to divide towel's width into thirds. Pass dowel through channel, tie ribbon to both ends, and hang.

Bring on the Spring feelings!

Are you ready for spring? I know, it is officially spring, but for most of us, it sure doesn't feel like it. We've mowed the lawn already, but the temperature just doesn't hit that spring level! And we have had soooooo many cloudy days! So many people are getting colds and flu. I've got such a busy week these next weeks. Doctors appointments, next week my oldest boy has his tonsils and adnoids out, plus tubes in his ears! I'm not sure how much "Kreating" I'll get to do. So I thought I'd cheer myself up with these great pics from DIYideas.com hope you enjoy it also.

Wouldn't it be nice to have an area all to yourself for JUST GARDENING! You and no one else are allowed to go in there. Now I'm thinking what a great place for an easel. So many ideas going off in my head for this one!

I could spend alllllllll day here! Just bring me my ice cold water, my magazines and a nap! *sigh*

Hen and Chicks- so easy to care for! These are part of the cactus family! So you don't need much water and you can leave it out in the winter and they come back every spring! (I'm in Indiana and my mom is in South Dakota and they survive winters here and there!)

Rye grass is sooooo easy to get and grow! I like this little grouping!

A lot of the neighborhoods have these tents that sit on their deck. I love the bamboo privacy fence they put in this one! That is a great idea! And those white curtains- makes it so soft and eases on the breezes!

This looks like a friend and a tall glass of ice tea belong there!
Have to end this post with this- a project, of course!
How cool is this? Use those cheap pavers to make containers!

Step One
Form the sides of the planter. On a flat surface, place four 12X12-inch or 8X16-inch pavers on edge to form a square. Tilt one paver over and lay a bead of landscape-block adhesive along each mating side. Then replace the paver. Do the same to the paver on the opposite side of the square. All four seams of the square should now be adhered. Make any needed adjustments to ensure that the pavers form a true square.

Step Two
Add the bottom. Apply adhesive along the upward-facing edges of the planter in a drop pattern rather than a solid bead. This will create small channels for drainage. Then place one 12X12-inch or two 8X16-inch pavers on top to form the bottom. Allow the adhesive to harden for at least 24 hours before moving the planter.
Step Three
Move the planter into position and fill it with potting mix; then plant your favorite ornamentals.

Notebooks and Journals

Do you Journal? Do you love paper? Notebooks? Little albums to record things into? Sketchbooks? I do! Have a lookie at what I found! (More projects to go on that Krafty list.....) I absolutely love paper! I don't journal, but I heart them. I don't write letters anymore, but I heart stationary. I love mini albums (big surprise), I heart those who actually fill and finish them! You can tell I love Sketchbooks!
