Before and After- a trash to treasure find

and my spool of jute rope and turned it into this...

If you happen to be looking closely-you should of seen the acrylic/plastic tag hooked to my new holder. It's a gift card holder, I got tons for 20cents each. I'm doing some fun things with them. (And will be having a giveaway soon.) stay tuned............

Mini Beach Albums

I didn't have enough fun just making 2 big shell catching beach books. So I had to make 3 mini ones! I took leftover foam board (left from the 2 larger beach books) that (once again), was 1.00 from the dollar store! 2 sheets of beachy 12x12, leftover scraps and embellishments.

Similar to the larger beach books I put in a few places for small seashells. These are more for journaling. I put a few hidden tags and such for that. There is also empty scrapbook pages for small pics if my neices (and their friend) so choose.

Where the Circular frames are I used adhesive foam so they are raised up for small seashells or seaglass.

I used an anywhere hole punch and it went through the foam board and paper pretty good. I was a little worried about it bending and denting the foam board so much that it would turn out ugly but it didn't. The rubber band with the stick covered any minor denting.

When I went to our tree line for sticks out behind our house I found these wild raspberries. They taste like sour candy! These were the only ones that are ripe right now.

Cardboard on the walls?

I'm getting lazy- or I'm busy doing other things, yeah, I'll stick to that story. I found this old article I saved. I thought this was cool and unique! I would love to try this in my boys' room but I don't know if I dare....

Photo Coasters using acrylic stamp blocks

Acrylic stamp block -photo coasters
I took an acrylic block, a photo, scrap paper, adhesive runner and sticky foam sheet. I put the sticky foam on the bottom to help prevent "glass sweat" seeping to the tabletop and getting the paper wet and coming off in clumps. (does that make sense?) It's late....

Seems like all my creative juices are flowing into my other "world" here lately. I've been sketching and doing some painting. But I did find this awesome pic of this bathroom shelving that you can make in a day! All you need is a 6 foot 1x4, a 6 foot 1x6 and a 6 foot 1x8. The full directions are in the new Family Handyman mag. I'm going to make my hubby whip this up this weekend! (I hope...)

Since I've got "The Beach" on my mind I got to looking and found this jewel of a picture!
I thought I'd share some pictures from my mind of where I'm going to be in a couple weeks. (Well, I'm going on a beach vaca. it might not be exactly like this, hee....a girl can dream can't she?)

Seriously-I'm gonna alter this book!

Remember my aversion to wrecking precious books. I found the perfect one to wreck and I'm doing this with others. "The Next Chapter" is starting this book club with an awesome book called "Wreck this Journal". You get to do exactly what it says. Click here for more details! This is going to be sooooo much fun, and help to get out of my book shell, ha!

Each week you can talk, show off, write, etc. all about your experience with this book. I'm so excited to try this adventure in a creative form of being creative, hee. I will put my progress and thoughts on my other website for sure. I haven't decided if I'll put all my posts on here yet.... We'll see where it takes me, hope you can join, it will be good for you!
A creative outlet! A place to try a new creative zone. Create, wreck, and find the kid in you....ha!

Park Pics and some succulent projects

Took some pics at the park today. It is absolutely beautiful here today!
Had to share these pics and a few DIY projects... Off I go to enjoy this weather!

I had to share these awesome projects from DIY mag. They tinted a cement statue with tinted cement paint. Sponged it on and let some of it run. Something tells me you could use plain old acrylic and some flat indoor/outdoor varnish and do the same effect.

I heart succulents. So easy to take care of. This box they chose is so cute. I like how skinny it is. Fits right on a decks railing. I love the old antiqued weathered look of it also! What a great photograph.

Beach Book Finale Pt. 1

Remember These??????

My Beach Books are done! This is the finale....
Well, the empty version anyway.....

The insides were held together with the same athletic tape used to hold the book together. Three pages- First the Bubble Wrap cut to size, then the pockets page and last a scrap-paper page.

This is the inside cover of the Blue Beach Book

I had to sew the pocket pages in some spots since they were too long to fit in my books...
Here is the post to see a before....
And this is the back inside cover. I made little pockets all over the book so that my nieces can journal their thoughts and memories, etc.
And this is the back cover, below. Where the curly swirl is- that's a hidden tag inside that pocket.

Back inside cover of Our family Beach Book

I left a spot in the frame below to put a small flat shell and the stamp to journal about it.
And on the left I left it open to Journal or put paper memorabilia that I pick up, maybe a photo, etc.
The Circle frame is for another flat shell and the pocket with the swirly paper clip attached to textured paper for journaling.
Here is the back cover with a see thru pocket and a card with a beach scene tucked in for journaling on the back of the card
Now at the end of June I'll have to give you a glimpse at what it looks like when it's actually full of those little shells!!!!! I can't wait!

The Goodwill party

Here is my Woo Hoo! for the Goodwill party!
I forgot to mention the one and only Thrifty Decor Chick- Sarah!!! She has such awesome ideas! Check her out!

The suitcase on the bottom... still has some dust on it from the attic it came from! Hmmm, maybe I should take care of that....

This bunk bed was a 100$ thrift!

And pretty much everything in this nook is thrifty hand-me-down items! The fan was flea market find from almost 10 years ago. (My favorite!!!)...The books were from a one room school house that was full of birds, from North Dakota. Some of the books are from when my mom taught school. And the old frame was a old hand-me-down that I spray painted black... Same with the chalk board in the back... and the candlestick/vase holders, another hand-me-down...

I have many other items that were thrifty finds that I didn't pay full price for. (I loooove me a clearance sale and/or bin!!!! (Enter the snickers of some of my friends....)
